“At Emory, when our commitment to see the world through others’ eyes is strong, when we hunger and thirst to transcend ourselves and our self-centered worlds, we will be drawn together and the world will be drawn to Emory.”

- Emory President James W. Wagner

Emory University is committed to preparing global citizens and working in partnership and cooperation for positive transformation in the world.

Home to more than 2,000 international students and scholars this year, Emory sends some forty percent of its undergraduates to study abroad on intensive learning experiences that include such opportunities as research in high-tech science labs around the world, contemplative studies with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Buddhist community in India, and field work on development projects in some of the world’s poorest countries. Students and faculty in Emory’s graduate school in arts and sciences and professional schools in the fields of public health, nursing, medicine, theology, law and business are also engaged in international research and teaching.

Located in Atlanta with Emory entities such as The Carter Center, and with the neighboring Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and non-governmental organizations such as CARE, Emory has a unique ability to connect students and research to international communities and organizations. Atlanta ranks third in the U.S. for Fortune 500 companies and was recently designated by the United Nations (UN) as one of twelve world centers, and the only one in North America, for the UN’s new training program for political and civil society leaders.

We hope that you will take some time to browse these pages and explore “Emory in the World.”
